I have long been a fan of Karen Murrell lipsticks, in fact they have been my ‘go-to’ since I first tried them several years ago. The colours are fabulous, the textures are soft and hydrating, yet a velvety matte finish. It’s perfection in a tube basically. So I was super delighted to attend the launch for her new collection, Princesses of the Golden Petals.
As with all her lipsticks, the new collection is made from natural ingredients including avocado and evening primrose oils, candelilla, carnauba wax, cinnamon and sweet orange, so they are (almost!) good enough to eat.
The collection of five new lipsticks draws inspiration from Versailles, palace ballrooms and royal apparel, all with a contemporary twist. I went there on a trip to Paris and the Palace is certainly out there with its bold decor and gold everything. While it was not to my taste of interior design, I am happy to say this collection really is up my alley.
Princesses of the Golden Petals includes a rich red – Fiery Ruby, deep berry – Bordeaux Rouge (this one is a winner for me!) and a dusky pink – Blushing Rose, which is the prettiest nude/pink I have ever seen. There are also a couple of metallics in the collection – copper – Haute Bohème and gold – Crown Jewel, which look pretty stunning worn on their own – if you dare – or mixed into other shades for a metallic sheen.
I can’t complete this review without gushing about the packaging. The artwork is so stunning that I have actually kept the lipsticks in their boxes, which is something I never do. And, to make the lipsticks even prettier the lipstick bolt is ‘engraved’. So gorgeous it’s tempting to not use it. But you must… every lipstick lover needs to know how wonderful this brand really is.
The lipsticks cost $32 each from stockists nationwide and online karenmurrell.com
