Most people don’t describe themselves as ‘excited’ when summer abates and autumn arrives. But I always get a little thrill because cooler weather means new makeup collections … smokey eyes, dark, berry-stained lips, lashings of liner. What’s not to love?
And so I was delighted to discover that despite how much makeup I already own, Jane Iredale’s new autumn colour 2017 collection is seriously covetable. It ticks all the boxes with gorgeous eyeshadow triples ($69.55) in soft, shimmery shades that look as good on their own as they do in combination, and Jane Iredale’s puremoist lipsticks ($49) in a delightful creamy rose beige and a soft cool pink. I have Lisa, the rose beige shade and it is not only beautifully nourishing with moringa butter, avocado and sunflower seed oils but the colour adds a hint of tint that is subtle enough to be worn all day and year round.
I’ve also fallen in love with the In Touch Cream Blush ($52). This cream to powder blush comes in a cute little wind up tube and gives a delicate radiance to the skin that looks 100% natural. If you’d like more intensity, simple add a pop of depth with their Bronzer ($89 for the refill) in peaches and cream, which contains four hues that can be mixed and matched. I like the shimmery peaches and pinks for my cheeks and use the darker hues for a dramatic contour and to add overall warmth. Plus it’s also ideal swept over the eyelid to make blue eyes pop.
Now I am the first to admit I probably go over the top with eyeliner, I kinda feel naked without it. And Jane Iredale’s Mystikol Powdered Eyeliners ($59) have done nothing to ease my addiction to liners. Au contraire, these beauties are a beauty bag must-have, with the staying power of liquid, but the ability to be smudged like a pencil. What’s more, the packaging is genius – they have a brush set into the cap. These are wonderful for those over 30s or those who have hooded eyelids that are starting to show the test of time, but still like to wear strong eye colour. Yes, that is me. The shades are richly pigmented and yet somehow feel soft and they are so much easier to apply because if you make a boo just blend it for a smokey look and make out like it was intentional. L.O.V.E.
