While spring is supposed to be here already, the weather in Auckland isn’t up to much at the moment. But never mind the rain, because there is something to get excited about and that’s new makeup! After trying some of the goodies in Jane Iredale’s new spring collection I can say these babies are sure to impress those looking for quality mineral makeup to kick off a new (soon to be) sunny season.
I’m not really one to mess around with primers – especially now I am a busy mum of twins. But I have to admit that Smooth Affair for Eyes, $68 is a pretty great product. The cream-to-powder formula can be worn as a solo shadow if you want a sheer wash of colour, or it can be applied as a primer for any other shadow. It preps the eyes helping powder shadow to adhere and blend so much better than if it were just applied on its own. The result is a smudge and crease proof finish that helps your look to stay perfectly applied all day long. I won’t be using one of these colours every day, because I am too rushed these days, but for an occasion or night out I love it!
It is so hard to find brow pencils in great shades. I don’t know why that is. But as a redhead I struggle to find a brow pencil that is a warm brown with just a hint of auburn and that is the perfect medium tone – not too dark and not too light. My search is over
thanks to Jane Iredale Retractable Brow Pencil in Brunette, $42. The product has an ultrafine precision tip so you can apply hair strokes where you need to fill gaps, then define with a line. When you’re done – groom brows into place with the shaping spoolie. The formula is exquisite – applies easily with just delicate pressure, yet it’s longwearing, waterproof and it doesn’t smudge. Plus there’s no need to faff around looking for a pencil sharpener as it’s always sharp. A really brilliant brow product.
I seem to have a problem with dry lips at the moment, so any kind of product that can give me colour and hydration is what I’m on the lookout for. Cindy Puremoist Lipstick, $48 delivers high‐impact colour and depth in a creamy formula that glides on easily and lasts beautifully. I adore the sleek tube, which is designed to ensure easy and precise application – in fact, I don’t even need to wear lipliner if I’m in a rush. Better still, Puremoist Lipstick contains nourishing moringa, avocado and sunflower seed oils to condition and hydrate the lips. And the colour is dark berry red – so Parisian. J’adore!
