As you may recall, I am already in love with Snowberry’s groundbreaking Radiance Serum and use it twice daily – religiously. If you haven’t tried it yet, get some in your life asap. But recently I tried another couple of goodies and think they may also have to be added to my daily regime.
Snowberry’s Gentle Remineralising Toner
This is actually a 2-in1 natural plant extract soft-foam cleanser that also tones the skin. At first I was very confused by what this was – doing a pre-cleanse and then using this as a toner afterwards, but I have since realised it is a highly effective cleanser on its own. It’s exceedingly gentle and suits all skin types and leaves it feeling refreshed and glowing without the use of harsh volatile alcohols and surfactants. In fact, I was overjoyed to discover the ingredients list reads like something of a garden of eden with extracts of kumquat, kiwi, neem fruit, honeysuckle and sunflower as well as white coral extract and mother of pearl extract powder. Unsurprisingly it smells good enough to eat. There’s not a lot of foam because it uses a magical blend of natural plant saponins to gently cleanse the skin without damaging the epidermal barrier or causing the increasingly common chronic low level inflammation evident for many women. You simply apply a small amount to the palm of the hand and mix with a little water, then massage over entire face and eye area. Rinse and pat dry. Sometimes I leave it on for a little longer to give myself a little soothing and hydrating mask treatment.
I have been using this for a month and as you only need a pea sized drop it lasts for ages. My skin looks fabulous – angry pimples seem to ease away and oddly enough I don’t seem to notice my pores or blackheads on my nose being as large. This one is absolutely going onto the repurchase list; this product is perfection.
Active Outdoor SPF30
I also tried their sun product the Active Outdoor SPF30. It is completely natural (big tick from me!), but unlike most natural sunscreens, it does not leave a white cast on the skin. I love the texture, it is delicate yet creamy and feels as though it is really hydrating my complexion while protecting it. It absorbs quickly and leaves a smooth finish which is ideal for a makeup base. Snowberry sunscreens are certified broad spectrum protection, which means they protect against both UVB and UVA light. The ‘SPF30’ means protection against UVB (the rays that cause sunburn) for 30x the burn time if a sun product was not applied. For protection it contains Zinc Oxide, a naturally occurring, chemically inert mineral, which is used at a particle size that is sufficiently small to give it a clear appearance on the skin, but which is above nano particle size. There is some controversy around nano particles being absorbed by the body, so this also gets a bit tick from me.
More good news, Snowberry’s Active Outdoor SPF30 and Everyday SPF15 are better for the environment as they are free of parabens, cinnamates, benzophenones and camphor derivatives – all of which are considered responsible for damaging coral reefs. It’s not cheap for a little 50ml tube, but it is a great size for the handbag and I now carry one everywhere with me and apply before going out into the sun. Definitely one to consider if you are looking for effective, natural sun protection that is pleasant to use.
