Sad but true, I admit I’m one of those women who feels kind of naked without mascara. So when my lashes started falling out (and I mean really falling out!) leaving me with just a few clumps of short lashes it was pretty upsetting to say the least. In my opinion, if eyebrows frame the face, mascara completes the picture. Around this time my brows were also doing their best disappearing act and I was feeling pretty upset by my reflection. After a while I discovered the link was possibly an underactive thyroid, known as hypothyroidism or hashimoto’s and while I wanted to fix my thyroid, I also really wanted to fix my lashes and brows. I was in luck – the lovely girls at Revitalash NZ sent me a goodie pack to try.
I used this product diligently on my lash line – you sweep it on at night on cleansed eyelids as though you were applying a liquid liner – and within about 6 weeks I started to see impressive results. My lashes weren’t falling out as much, which meant they were able to gain some length. While I didn’t get those amazing eyebrow grazing lashes that so many of my friends did with this product (yes, it is possible!) I was so, so happy to finally have a full ‘fan’ of lashes that looked pretty with mascara. Better yet, I didn’t get any weird side effects. Some people experience a slight redness along the lash line, but this wasn’t a problem for me. Excuse the blurry pic below; clearly photography is not my strong point, but it does give you an idea of my lash growth.
I also got to try RevitaLash Volumizing Primer and Mascara. I’m too lazy to use the Volumizing Primer every day, but for nights out it does give lashes a great boost for a more high impact look. It makes my lashes thicker, more defined and separated. Better still, it does not flake or smudge. This adds a few minutes to your routine because you have to put it on and let it dry before applying mascara, but it’s worth it if you’re going for glam.
Speaking of mascara, RevitaLash Mascara is really, really great. Just one coat makes my lashes stand out in a beautiful, yet natural way, but why stop there? I’m all about the drama, so I apply two coats and my lashes fill out to a gorgeous fringe of ‘I’m not really flirting with you – I can’t help it if my lashes look like this!’ lashes. The formula is easily buildable and doesn’t clump, so you can keep applying until your lashes look the way you want. Suffice it to say, with RevitaLash I have been able to feel a lot more like me again – with a whole set of lashes to frame my eyes. Oh happy days! Will I continue to use it? Heck yes. I highly recommend trying RevitaLash if illness or age have left you with sparse or non existent lashes. Check out their official online store www.blackorchid.co.nz to purchase.
