I Try: New Shampoo Bars from Lush

The new shampoo bar Brazilliant from Lush

I started getting into shampoo bars with the wonderful range from Kiwi brand Sorbet Solid Cosmetics and enjoyed the convenience and the results from them so much that I ended up taking some with me in my travel kit on a recent trip to Bali. Because shampoo bars are small and there’s no risk of leakage, they are ideal for travel.

Recently I got sent some Lush bars to trial and as you would expect from Lush, the scents are well, simply sensational. These Lush bars contain sodium lauryl sulphate like a classic shampoo, so they deliver a rich, foamy lather and leave you with a squeaky clean feeling.

To use simply wet your hair and the shampoo bar, then glide the shampoo bar down the length of your hair about three times (right, left and back). Work into a lather and rinse, following with a conditioner. You’ll want to keep your solid shampoo and conditioner in a cool, dry place between uses – Lush sells a handy shampoo bar tin, although a soap container would also work.

I tried three of the new Lush bars and was impressed with each of them. Another bonus, the bars can last up to 80 washes (that’s around three bottles of liquid shampoo!) and requires no wasteful packaging.

Brazilliant is for thick, curly hair and contains strengthening andiroba oil to leave unruly hair shiny and conditioned. It has an absolutely delicious ylang ylang and sweet orange oil scent which makes it a sheer pleasure to use. My hair felt soft and smooth afterwards, but not at all greasy.

Honey I Washed My Hair literally fills your bathroom with the most incredible warm honey-toffee scent. It is made with real Fair Trade honey to moisturise and soften dry hair without weighing it down, leaving it soft, bouncy and smelling irresistible. This was my favourite bar as it really suited my long, dry and at times frizzy hair.

Copperhead is a blend of freshly ground coffee with a dash of henna for shine and cocoa butter for moisture. It’s ideal for coloured hair as it cleans without stripping away your colour. If you like the smell of coffee the scent of roasted Fair Trade coffee and vanilla will float your boat.

Have you tried a shampoo bar? What did you think?

While I am blessed (and admittedly rather spoiled!) to receive many beauty products for review purposes, I will always disclose IF a company has paid for sponsored content. I choose to feature products that I am genuinely excited about and think that you will enjoy. Because I’m a girlie girl and I could talk about this stuff for hours.
