I’m usually pretty cynical about hype, but ladies I can tell you, believe the hype on this one. I am not at all surprised Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water is literally flying off store shelves.
Other than rinsing off my cleanser under the tap, the concept of cleansing with water is completely foreign to me. I have never tried a micellar (what?) cleansing water so have nothing to compare to, but suffice it to say, what we have here is pure bottled perfection, so it shall live in my bathroom cupboard henceforth and forevermore.
Micellar water is actually a Parisian beauty thing and that’s a jolly good start in my books. It apparently came about because the city’s hard tap water can be tough on the skin of the fair ladies of France. In a nutshell, micro-sized spherical micellar particles, which are actually tiny oil molecules suspended in water (science is amazing right?!) cleanse the skin by removing makeup, oil and dirt from the epidermis. All you have to do is apply the water to a cleansing pad and swoosh it across the face as though you were applying a toner.
The upsides are plenty. There’s no need to rinse your skin, it is gentler than cleansing wipes and, as it is alcohol and detergent free, it is ideal for sensitive skin and can be used to remove eye makeup. My eyes spazz out at the mere hint of cleanser usually, but I was relieved this was absolutely fine on my eyes.
It’s quick, convenient and perfect for mornings (this is so me because every time my alarm goes off I think, ‘Is this real life?’ before proceeding to read 3/4 of the internet and almost being late for work… Every day) It’s also ideal for late nights (especially if you run into your old mate Pinot Noir who was all, ‘Heeeeey babe, let’s hang, you are suuuch a gooood dancer!’) For those that are more wholesome than I, gym bunnies will find it useful for a quick cleanse before a workout, as well as a refresh after. And, while I haven’t had kiddlywinks (yet!) I’m going to go right ahead and say a bottle of this would be a perfect gift for a busy mama, who has a screaming child to attend to in between attempting to maintain a skin care routine.
Garnier Micellar 3-In-1 Cleansing Water is not only the business when it comes to cleansing, but it leaves my skin feeling fresh and soft. No stinging, no tightness. I have to say, after a week of trialling this as the only new addition to my daily skin care, the old visage is looking really rather nice.
In case you hadn’t gathered already, I mean this… This product is 100% perfect. And did I mention a huge 400ml bottle contains 200 uses and costs just $12.99. Yep. It’s cheap, effective and it does exactly what it says it will. L.O.V.E.
Have you tried a cleansing water? What did you think?
