Other than all the smokey eyes and red lips I adore painting on during autumn and winter, rich nail colours are another seasonal joy for me – and the essie fall collection 2014 does not disappoint.
The textile-inspired nail colour palette features four new shades and I LOVE EVERY ONE OF THEM! True story. Once upon a time I made a stupid rule for myself that I should only wear black, red or nude nailpolish. I still love black, but the shades in the Essie collection deliver that deep darkness that I crave in a nail-colour, but with a softer and more flattering finish than black. ‘The lace is on’ is a gorgeous purple with a slight metallic finish. It’s girlish but not childish and slightly retro. ‘For the twill of it’ is another metallic… It’s kinda sci-fi’ish and very modern and slick. My favourites are ‘after-school boy blazer’ and ‘cashmere bathrobe’. I have been complimented by women both times I have worn these. They are a little edgy and gothic – and a bit rock’n’roll – and are perfect teamed with some black leather. It’s nice to bring out the bad girl every now and then – even if it’s just in your nail colour and absolutely never in your behaviour. *Cough*
What I really love love love is the polish itself. The fine art of nail maintenance has always been way too much like hard work for me. But not with Essie polishes. It dries super quickly, with a gorgeous smooth finish and it can take a beating without chipping and scratching. In fact, an Essie polish has never chipped on me. Astonishing really. Get some on your digits while the weather is still cool.
