For many years now, my personal preference in skin care has been to use natural products. I feel much happier knowing that I am using products that are not toxic to my body or the environment. However, I do find that natural brands don’t always feel effective. There is no such problem with MV Organic Skin Care.
Clemency Alice, a leading facialist from Christchurch introduced me to the MV Organic range, which has become a staple in her signature treatments and in her online store. Clemency only uses premium, internationally renowned natural and organic products and was keen to introduce me to her favourite products in the MV Organic range.
I received a delightful box of skin-saving products at just the right time. My skin – which is usually quite normal and balanced – was playing up big time. The downside to being a beauty editor (the only one I might add!) is that because I try many things, sometimes my skin will react in a not so positive way and I usually have no idea what caused the issues. At times like that I simplify everything, cleansing with olive oil and using products made with pure ingredients. And ingredients don’t get much purer than MV Organic.
An Australian range founded by Sharon McGlinchey, MV adheres to some of the strictest guidelines for organic skincare certification and is free from ‘nasties’ including petrochemicals and synthetic parabens. The products are designed to treat sensitive conditions such as rosacea an eczema, so they include fewer ingredients but in higher concentrations to minimise reactions and maximise efficacy. Unlike many natural skin care brands, the products do not contain alcohol, which is often used as a preservative or base for herbal extracts. I am grateful for this as I find that most natural skin care with alcohol stings my skin upon application. However, MV is so gentle, that it is ideal for use post laser, IPL and dermabrasion to de-sensitize and strengthen the skin. And it’s preserved with a honeysuckle extract which gives the products a 12 month shelf life.
The brand has a pretty impressive celebrity following, with the likes of Melissa George, Emma Watson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Maggie Gyllenhall classing themselves as devotees to some of the products. Frankly, I’m not surprised. Having tried some of the range – Gentle Cream Cleanser, Rose Plus Booster, Rose Hydrating Mist and Rose Soothing & Protective Moisturiser I would consider myself hard pressed not to want to buy all of them – many times over. So you can add me to that celebrity list. 😉 Kidding. Hee hee.
The cleansing process is fabulous. After massaging the cleanser into dry skin you wet your fingertips and massage again, then press a steamy muslin cloth against your skin several times before wiping residue off. Pure BLISS. Next I use four drops of Rose Oil warmed in the palms of my hand and pressed firmly onto my face, followed by a good misting of rose mist and then a small amount of the moisturiser, which blends beautifully into the skin and can be used around the eye area. All the products smell truly exquisite, which makes them a pleasure to use.
But what of my skin troubles? INSTANT calm. Flakiness, dry patches and redness disappeared overnight (true story!) and I awoke to fresh, soft skin – no dryness anywhere. Seriously… This is impressive. With a couple of weeks of use my skin looked balanced and fresh and no more dryness appeared. I adore that it is so gentle as I feel that trying so many things – skin care and makeup, does mean that my skin can become hypersensitive.
So it’s nothing but rave reviews for MV Organic skin care and the lovely Clemency Alice for introducing me to this wonderful range. Though I live in Auckland, the thought of making a trip to Christchurch to be pampered by her using these beautiful products is something that has me checking for grabaseat deals often.
