She’s a megababe, an all round lovely lady and a little bit (read: a lot!) makeup obsessed like myself, so I just had to interview Kirsty of Makeup Obsessives to find out which products were her holy grail products… Be sure to pay her site a visit for more beauty gems and join her massively successful Facebook group for beauty inspiration from women around the world.
What products do you use every day?
Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream is my go-to first thing every morning, because it absorbs so well, gives me the perfect base for makeup application and smells divine. I am currently in the process of growing out my eyebrows after over-plucking them 10 years ago (disaster), so it’s really important to define them everyday or I look crazy. I use NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder Kit in Brunette. I use a different foundation virtually every day depending on what I’m doing/what I need to review, but my FAVOURITE concealer is theBalm concealer – it’s so creamy and covers eeeeeeverything. Every evening to remove my makeup, I reach for Lush Ultrabland Cleanser, because it literally dissolves everything and is perfect for my dry/sensitive skin. Afterwards I use Trilogy Rosapene Night Cream (intensely moisturising) and Hurraw! Moon Balm (one of my fave lip balms).
Do you have a skin care regimen with one range or do you mix up your products?
I really do have to mix things up, not just because of the amount of things I need to review, but my skin is a contrary mix of dry/sensitive!
The ones I tend to reach for are products from Trilogy, Lush, Bobbi Brown, and Clinique, though. I was gifted a BEAUTIFUL La Prairie product a month or so ago and I apply that the night before a big occasion, because I wake up with angel skin – seriously. If I wasn’t so terrified of running out, I’d use it night and day.
What products do you pack for a weekend away?
It’s incredibly hard to try and condense my makeup when I go away, a real bone of contention, actually. When I recently went away for a week I packed L’Oreal Nude Magique CC Cream (this has amazing coverage!), Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder (I can use this as a bronzer/contour/blush/eye shadow), ModelCo Lip Enhancer Lip Pencil (the perfect nude shade),NYX Brow Kit (for my unruly brows)… and as many mascaras and lip products I could force in. I have no restraint.
The products you keep in your handbag?
My friends call my bag “the vortex”, and it really is. It is ALWAYS packed to the brim, and I can never find a thing. Recently I thought I’d lost a beloved lipstain, and it turned out to be in the lining of my bag – along with about ten other things I thought had been lost forever. As a rule though (and if I can find them), I carry NYX Butter Gloss in Tiramisu because it is the loveliest pinky/brown gloss that goes with everything. Having a powder compact is always a good idea for touch ups throughout the day/night, and I currently LOVE Benefit Hello Flawless. A lipstick or 5 always gets in there too… from neutrals like MAC Syrup, to ModelCo Little Devil (a very Lorde-like deep purple). I like to be able to cover all bases 😉
– theBalm Staniac in Prom Queen – The best lip stain I’ve tried, in a perfect berry shade
– Urban Decay Naked Eye Shadow Palette – ALL the shades I love, with the best pigmentation ever- probably my favourite eyeshadow brand I have tried
– Revitalash Advanced Lash Conditioner – This lil’ baby has made my lashes crazy thick, long, and curly. I absolutely swear by it!
– Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara – Perfect for sensitive eyes, this does everything you want in a mascara… Thickens, lengthens and curls with zero clumping or smudging.
– Clinique Even Better Foundation – This foundation is a recent-ish find for me, and there’s nothing not to love. It gives a moderate to full coverage, is buildable, lasts for AGES and never looks cakey. I LOVE.
