My hair type = ‘difficult’. It’s fine, dry, curly, frizzy and greasy at the roots. Best summed up as ‘meh’. Mane taming is not my idea of fun as most products weigh it down too much and leave it limp and needing to be washed every day. Sometimes twice in one day. No jokes. So it was with the usual cynical, ‘Sure, this looks great but it won’t work for me’ thought that I approached Kerastase’s new Elixir Ultime BB Crème. Imagine my delight to discover it is absolutely perfect for my tricky tresses.
Much like a BB Cream for the skin – a subtle finish and cosmetic enhancer with nourishing properties – Elixir Ultime BB Crème is suitable for all hair types and delivers the nutritional values of a hair oil in the soft consistency of a cream. I apply a pearl sized amount, spread through my palms and smoothed over my hair for sweet scented, instantly better behaved tresses. What’s more, it is light enough to be used daily for hair nourishment and protection.
It combines two key ingredients renowned for their regenerating and nourishing properties – Tahitian White Flower and pomegranate, which work together to help tame frizz and flyaways while delivering antioxidant protection. And there’s a UV filter to defend hair against sun damage.
While Elixir Ultime BB Crème is suitable for all hair types, it is those with fine-to-medium hair that is easily weighed down, that will really find this a Godsend. And there’s even a few ways to use it; applied as a pre-cleanse to prepare the hair before shampooing, as a leave-in conditioner, applied pre blow-dry on damp hair, as a finishing touch on dry hair after blow wave, or at any time during the day. It’s become my daily go-to product for softly smoothing my difficult hair into sweet obedience.
Elixir Ultime BB Crème costs $50 and is available from all Kérastase salons from 1 May 2014.
