Oh My Stars! I’ve been around the beauty block a few times and when a press release tells me that a cosmetic product makes big promises about youthful-looking skin, I tend to put on my cynical hat. However, after trying these divine products from Clarins I promptly took my cynical hat off, because by jove, they have done it.
First up, Clarins new foundation, Extra-Comfort SPF 15 plumps, hydrates and deeply nourishes the skin. True story. My skin often feels dry and ‘taut’ after a couple of hours with foundation on, but because this formula contains organic argan oil, it just feels soft and nourished. Plant Micropatch also helps control skin shine while also delivering balanced moisture to the drier parts of the face. The Light-Optimising+ Complex, exclusive to Clarins Laboratories, is made up of soft-focus and photochromic pigments and pearls to minimise the look of imperfections. And it really works – without any tacky ‘teenage’ shimmer, my skin just looks flawlessly even and glows like a teenagers with this wonderful foundation. The only downside is taking it off!
The formula also includes an anti-pollution and antioxidant complex that neutralises free radicals and a mineral-based SPF 15 protects the skin from the harmful effects of the sun. Available in six shades offering medium to high coverage. It is deliciously buildable. I use a dollop of Clarins Beauty Flash Balm underneath, (can you tell I am becoming a bit of a devotee?) then smooth this foundation on my face, starting from the centre and blending out towards the hairline. I find it applies beautifully with the warmth of the fingertips. $102 each and is available now from Clarins stockists. Don’t walk, run.
It’s a cream concealer that instantly refreshes the eyes, hides dark circles and smooths and soothes the eye contour, while reducing puffiness. Those are the product claims and I have left them as is, because it’s true. I have always had issues with dark circles and this product makes me look so fresh and alert (great if you need to fake it on a Monday morning!) I also love to apply it to the eyelids as a base for makeup and to brighten and open the whole eye. Sometimes I just apply it all over followed by a slick of mascara. The formulation contains soothing aloe vera and caffeine to help reduce puffiness.
Available in three shades, $54 each, which is more than I would usually spend on a concealer, but it’s a large tube and you only need the tiniest drop. I swear it is worth every penny.
